RIB 035 - Abc Trió -
Caravan |

|
|

|
In the early '50s, a great number of
harmonica-groups played music all over the world. It's enough to
mention Lou Adler or the Hotcha Trio. This instrument was popular
either as accompaniment or as solo instrument as far as it went out
of fashion. In Hungary, the ABC trio made some hits with the help of
harmonica around 1964. The republishing of their former records
might be appreciated. Some songs of the repertory.... |

RIB 032 - Hundows - Dance
Floor |

|
|

|
As you might have recognised, Rock in' Box selects its publications with great care, especially instrumental records. That's the way how the Hungarian Hundows was one of those, whose CD, including 20 tracks, was distributed. Their sound reminds us of that of Shadows', they even play some of Shadows' songs. Their own tracks are not worse either. What a great delicacy is, is the adaption of Hungarian songs, which brought them popularity, such as & .
The selection is also available on cassette.

RIB 031 - Dorogi Barbara - "Night Time
is the Right Time" |

|
|

|
Apart from winning the sympathy of music-lovers by publishing CD-rarities, Rock in' Box
backs up new talents' career as well. Dorogi Barbara is one of these new talents. The singer is a promising member of inland blues-music. Some songs of hers include ragtime elements, too, which is rather rare in this genre, but that's why it's so peculiar. The use of instruments worth mentioning as we can hear the sounds of piano accordion, tuba or conga.

RIB 048 - EUGEN CICERO "Balkán
rapszódiák" |

|
|

|
Eugen Cicero. s name is not unknown in the world of jazz; he
appeared in 1965 with his various, improvising play of piano. He
mixes the elements of classical, folk and modern music successfully.
That is the atmosphere which dominates this record as well, on which
known Balkan folk melodies are performed in virtuose style.
Those who like lighter jazz music will surely enjoy this
album. |

RIB 044 - SZABÓ TAMÁS "Taylor's
clothes" |

|
|

|
Tamás Szabó became known as the famous
musician of Palermo Boogie Gang. After the group had put an end to
its life, he-like many others - tried himself as a soloist. The
record, which appeared under the title of . Taylor. s clothes. as
the publication of Rock in. Box, shows the diverse talent of the
performer. It seems if he changed his musical styles as often as he
changes his clothes, performing either as musician or as vocalist.
The various material will certainly offer pleasant time to spend to
the demanding audience. |

RIB 052 - NAGY SZABOLCS "The Song Is
Ended" |
 |
|

|
Rock in. Box- as its customers may know- gives opportunities to performers to
introduce themselves who hadn. t had such possibilities at
all so far. Here can be mentioned the works of Hundows Hungarian guitar-group
(RIB32), Barbara Dorogi (RIB29) and Tamás Szabó as well (RIB44).
Szabolcs Nagy & Co. are also to add to this group with their
particular ability to perform the hits of the great ones of swing
and traditional jazz. Besides, their own songs justify how famous
the style of the '40s is even today. |

RIB 061 - Golyó És A Vadhajtás |

|
|

|
If you get in a pub and it seems as if the '50s has revived - four pipe-haired guys wearing jeans
and western boots are playing rock- then it can. t be else than the "Golyó
és a Vadhajtás". Originally, it was three fellows who started
playing in a garage, it was only later that a fourth member joined
the band. Now they sing and play of the everydays in Hungarian
together. They represent the rockabilly style, nevertheless, it's a bit
different than usual- like a wild sprout on a plant which grows from the
same twig, still it looks different, goes its own way, so it's something
else. |

RIB 060 -The records of Hungarian beat-bands Vol. 1. |

|
|

|
As at the end of the '50s, the rock & roll fever seemed to
have just calmed down, twist and similar ones have just began to
revive, a completely new and unusual music style has begun to
spread. It is due to Beatles, who created the so-called beat-music.
So they were the pioneers of the later beat-wave. A generation
followed them in behaviour, fashion, and - above all- in music. That
was a universal phenomenon at that time. Even if to a lesser degree,
it touched also the young of the socialist
countries[...] |
